Rachel Dessenberger is a Chico State student graduation in May with a bachelors in Art History. She has been involved in the arts since an early age. At 13 she really started focusing on painting, specifically acrylic, and hasn't been able to put her paint brushes down since. She will be painting a gorgeous masterpiece for us at Saveur that will be auctioned off at the end of the dinner.
Fine wine, captivating art, good music and romance illustrate the streets of France. Saveur is embracing a French theme this year and what better way to illustrate a gourmet meal on the streets of France than an accordion player. Kalei Yamanoha will be providing our guests with unique sounds that will create an French atmosphere.
North Bay musician Kalei Yamanoha, 23, has played in 12 different bands, performed in 30 states and plays around 270 shows a year. He stays busy, and this season, you can find him accompanying the Imaginists theater ensemble in Santa Rosa and playing a big New Year’s Eve show, with many other musicians, in Petaluma. In addition to his own musical projects, Yamanoha has played and recorded with bands such as The Dixie Giants, The Easy Leaves, Frankie Boots and the County Line.
France embodies expression through dance and music; we want to embody France through a special performance from Chico State's Dance Team, Expressions. Expressions will be performing at our Annual Saveur Event in the style of French Cabaret. They will be choreographing a dance specifically for our Saveur attendees to a classic French tune. Expressions is the official Chico State Dance Team. They perform at many althetic events including soccer, volleyball, and basketball games as well as other campus and community events. In the spring Expressions puts on its annual showcase which consists of student-choreographed dances and performance pieces. Expressions roots are mainly in jazz but we love to include all styles of dance including hip-hop, lyrical, ballet musical theatre, and tap.
